Energy plays an important role in the development and economic growth of countries. Electricity consumption is being used as an important indicator for development all over the world. It drives progress and offers solutions for socio-economic development. Energy demand is increasing all over the world due to breakthrough in technology and boom in industries. The growing demand for energy presents a widespread challenge to explore various dimensions of energy with high efficiency for optimal utilization and cost-effectiveness. Cost optimization, environmental safety and sustainability of resources are major benefits of alternate resources such as; wind, solar photovoltaic (PV), biomass, and geothermal. Renewable energy has been gaining widespread acclamation for the high energy efficiency and sustainability of resources. Sustainable energy resources promote fast paced and inclusive economic growth. Finding avenues of increasing share of alternate energy sources is one of the factors that accelerate economic growth and assures sustainability of resources.
In this backdrop Executive Development Institute has designed a 2-days course on “Sustainable Sources of Energy for Fast Track Economic Growth” to be held on 29-30 April, 2019. The course will expose the participants to a variety of proven strategies that have produced results in a diverse set of circumstances. The focus will be on the broad areas of governance and strategic management. The methodology covers a wide spectrum of case studies; presentations, group discussions and focus group discussions followed by a round-up discussion of Q&A and brain storming sessions. Each case describes an actual situation prevailing in Pakistan and serves as a stimulus for participants to think through possible approaches and solutions to the challenge.
Identifying best sources for consistent share of sustainable energy for inclusive and fast economic growth. Identify business opportunities and impact assessment of alternate potential and benefits.
Encouraging indigenous resources for stand-alone projects and mini-grid.
Bridge gaps in research and development to adopt modern technology and information.
Examining the viability of net-metering and rural electrification for improved management. Developing insights for renewable zoning, target setting, and portfolio standards for conservation of energy. Identifying constraints for deployment of alternate energy sources and mitigation strategies.
Develop policy framework and regulationsforpublicand private sector collaboration.
Identifying the mechanism of private sector for investment and support in generation, transmission, distribution and national grid. Effective role of media in creating awareness amongst general public regarding conservation of energy.
