Youthful, energetic, hip trends define day two of showcase

KARACHI: On Friday, day 2 of the Pantene Hum Showcase, ‘HSY Active’ redefined fashion to promote a more active and healthy lifestyle by putting a fashionable spin of cathleisure* clothing also meant to be worn at casual and social occasions- Mostly dark tones in hoodies and long-length shirts with a few standout pieces presented in an energetic manner defined the mood of the collection meant for youth and the young at heart. Ahmed Ali Akbar and Mansha Pasha were the showstoppers for this segment.

Neelo Allawala presented a monochrome collection that defied tradition in cuts and silhouettes. Breezy and light, the collection featured front-open jackets and shirts, and ribbon skirts with tops that came together at the waist in elegant knots and tassels. Sarwat Gillani walked for the designer.

U&I by Umer and Imrana’s ‘Living Traditions’ put the spotlight on the handloom industry of Pakistan audits potential contribution to the local fashion industry. Homegrown and organic, the collection that allowed the wearer to breathe during hot summers also won the Rising Talent Award for its designers for sheer ingenuity and aesthetics.

‘Bejewelled’ by Mona Imran showed couture separates and coordinates in jewel tones. Asymmetrical tops, brio skirts, high- and low7-waist dresses in pure raw silks and chiffons with accents of organza frill made up a major chunk of the collection. The cuts and silhouettes remained striking throughout and blissfully bling-free. Neelam Munir and Sami Khan walked for the designer.

“Conversations’ by Outfitters had street-style trends and youth culture for Generation Z and millenni-als. Playful in the way it was put together, the other half with blingy elements and camouflage jumpsuits was just as vibrant and energetic and definitely made a style statement while focusing on the comfort factor as well.

Hussain Rehar with CH20′ combined both the past and the present into visionary present. Psychedelic prints with liberal splashes of neon defined the well-structured outfits with Ayesha Omer walking for the young designer.

MahguTs ‘Between Ebony and Ivory’ embodies the spirit of contrast and harmony with form and structure in monochrome.
