Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited, is the first scheduled microfinance bank in Pakistan. We have a distribution network of 75000 agents and 176 branches nationwide. Telenor Microfinance Bank provides micro‐finance and related financial services to the less privileged and unbanked segment of the society, with an aim to contribute towards poverty eradication under the Microfinance Institution ordinance, 2001.

In 2009, we launched Pakistan’s first mobile banking platform, Easypaisa, which now has the largest nationwide footprint. Since then, we have embarked on an extraordinary journey of innovation to achieve financial empowerment for the masses on an individual level. With Easypaisa, the common man now has access to an easy and convenient avenue for all his financial needs.

Shahid Mustafa – President and Chief Executive Officer

Shahid’s career spans over 20 years, he is one of the founders of Tameer Microfinance Bank, now Telenor Microfinance Bank. As in any startup, during his time at the bank, he took up many different roles. He has also been associated with Citibank in a regional level leadership role, a Middle Eastern Bank, as Chief Operating Officer, Standard Chartered Bank as Country Head, Commercial Banking and as the founding CEO of Pakistan Microfinance Investment Company.

Mr. Petter-Børre Furberg – Chairman

Mr. Petter-Børre Furberg is the current Chairman and Director of GrameenPhone Ltd. He has a vast experience, spanning over 20 years in the field of telecommunication and information technology. He is a European Certified Financial Analyst of great repute and has served at senior and policy level across the globe. Mr. Furberg has held his current portfolio since May 26, 2017.

Mr. Furberg has been associated with Telenor Group since 1998 and he has held a number of executive positions, He served as Executive Vice President of Emerging Asia Cluster at Telenor ASA since May 30, 2017 and served as its Acting Executive Vice President of Emerging Asia Cluster since March 1, 2017 until May 30, 2017. Earlier, he served as an Interim Chief Executive Officer of GrameenPhone Ltd since November 2016 until May 2017. Enhancing his role in the global market, he served as an Executive Vice President at Telenor ASA until August 1, 2016 and served as Chief Executive Telenor Myanmar from July 2013 to August 2016. He has also been associated with the company in capacity of Vice President of Finance from 2000 to 2001 and Business Controller of Telenor International from 1998 to 1999.

Apart from Telenor, Mr. Furberg has been associated with Total Access Communication Public Company Limited as the Chief Financial Officer and Acting Chief Marketing Officer from May 2012 to August 2013. Earlier, he held multiple important portfolios at Total Access Communications Public Co. Ltd including, Chief Commercial Officer in, 2010, Chief Financial Officer since 2004 until 2007, Chief Marketing Officer in 2010, Chief Marketing Officer since May 14, 2012 and Deputy Chief Financial Officer from 2001 to 2004. He has been Vice Chairman of the Board at Total Access Communication Public Company Limited since July 13, 2017.

Irfan Wahab Khan – Director

Irfan Wahab Khan currently serves as CEO of Telenor Pakistan and is on the Board of Directors of Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited. Prior to this he served as Deputy CEO and Chief Marketing Officer of Telenor Pakistan. Irfan has served as Head of Asia Distribution Program in Telenor ASA (Bangkok, Thailand) and successfully established distribution industrialization Program. He has also served as Group Head of Devices (Group Market) in Telenor ASA (Oslo, Norway) and established common device portfolio selection and sourcing processes in Nordics, CEE and Asian Regions. He also served as Executive Vice President TP and CEO Telenor LDI (Pvt) Ltd and made his contributions in establishing the company as first employee and ‘local’ member of Management Team from license to over 20 M Subs and yearly revenue of approx 4B NOKs. He has also been ex- board member with large public and private enterprises (PTCL, PMD, TlDI).

Roar Bjaerum Director

In Telenor, Roar Bjaerum holds the position as head of Financial Services in Telenor Group. From 2010, Roar has headed Financial Services in Telenor Pakistan. As a line manager in the leading bank in the Nordic region, Nordea, for 8 years he held key positions in Norway as the Head of Internet and Mobile Banking, Head of Customer Service Centre and Regional Head.

Prior to this, Roar also served as a senior advisor and Head of Unit , Management Control Services in Stradec which is a management consulting company which is a management consulting company offering services within strategy and business development, process improvements, project management and use of IT solutions. Roar had also been associated with Andersen Consulting now known as Accenture. He worked there as a consultant and Senior Advisor- Group for bank and Finance.

Roar holds a Master of Science from The Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration. He also holds an MBA from a program conducted at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Sloan School of Management in Boston, USA.

Aslam Hayat – Director

Aslam Hayat is currently working as Chief Corporate Affairs and Strategy Officer in Telenor Pakistan. Mr. Hayat serves as a Director of Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited. Before joining Telenor, he was working as Center Director of Pacific ICT Regulatory Resource Centre. PIRRC was jointly funded project of World Bank and Asian Development Bank to provide regulatory resource and assistance to all the Pacific Island Countries.

Henning Thronsen – Director

Henning Thronsen has been working in Telenor ASA (Group function), heading Project & Corporate Finance (4 FTEs), a department within Group Treasury, Telenor ASA. He is supporting and controlling all BUs in treasury related issues including Capital Structure, Financing, Risk Management, Governance, Working Capital Management, restructuring, M&A and project support etc. In addition to this, Henning serve as a Director of Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited (formerly Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited). He is involved in relation to the build-up of Financial Services throughout the Group. He also supporting and controlling other Group investments like Vimpelcom, Amedia (a Norwegian media group) and various JVs etc.

He has extensive project leadership competence from many treasury related and cross-functional projects within Telenor Group. Henning participated in many Telenor Group – M&A projects (Treasury representative) and served as a board member in Telenor Eiendom Holding AS (since 2009) (Telenor’s property company). He has more than twenty years’ experience from treasury and finance related positions in large international corporates. Furthermore he has served as CFO for five years before joining Telenor and has held various board positions.

Uzma Khan – Independent Director

Uzma Khan is the CEO of Injaz Pakistan and serves as a director at Telenor Microfinance Bank Limited. Prior to joining Injaz, she was the Head of Strategic Business Development at NIB Bank. She holds an MBA from Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. Uzma has more than 28 years of experience in key banking positions involving leading country level teams across various financial organizations.

Klas Berthelsson – Director

Klas Berthelsson serves as a director on the Board of Telenor Microfinance Bank, Pakistan. In addition to this, he is also the VP Investments and Financial Services, Telenor Group. He began his journey with Telenor in Nov 2013, when he joined as the Head of Financial Services for the Telenor Group and over thirty years of corporate experience has worked with SEB Kort, SEB Enskilda and FinancsSkandic France S.A.

Gunn Ingemundsen – Director

Gunn Ingemundsen serves as a director on the Board of Telenor Microfinance Bank, Pakistan. In addition to this, she is also the VP Head of Risk Management, Financial Services with Telenor ASA. She began her journey with Telenor in Nov 2012. With over thirty years of corporate experience, she has worked with HSBC, Total, GE Money Bank, IKANO Bank SE and YA Bank AS.
